Ever-Trumper judge won't recuse himself
It looks like the Supreme Court will remain a kangaroo court, stacked by ever-Trumpers.
Justice Samuel Alito, who was nominated by Republican president George W. Bush in 2005, is flatly rejecting calls to recuse himself in two cases before the Supreme Court involving Trump because of two flags that flew outside his homes — one an upside down American flag, and the other an "Appeal to Heaven" flag. Both types of flags were carried by Trump's rioters who breached the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021.
An upside down American flag has been used to signal distress and, according to the U.S. Code, "should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."
The "Appeal to Heaven" flag, also called the Pine Tree flag, dates back to the American Revolution and signified resistance to British colonization. It has in recent years become associated with Christian nationalism.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin of Illinois criticized Alito over the episodes and called for him to recuse himself from cases before the Supreme Court involving an obstruction charge levied against Jan. 6 defendants and whether Trump should be shielded from criminal prosecution on the grounds of presidential immunity. "It's time for the highest court in the land to get away from the lowest standard of ethics," Durbin said.
Alito said he had nothing to do with the flying of the flags, and that nothing about the incidents merited recusal under the Supreme Court's code of conduct. In addition, he says, neither he nor his wife knew of the meanings that are now being ascribed to the flags.

Deliberate, but then convict and prosecute
A New York jury will begin deliberating today on whether Trump is guilty of falsifying business records in 2016 to cover up a 2006 sexual encounter with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. A guilty verdict would mark the first-ever criminal conviction of a former US president.
Trump faces up to four years in prison if convicted. Unfortunately, however, a legal analysis of similar convictions found roughly only one in 10 went to jail.

Closing arguments start today
The world is watching. Not a minute too soon, closing arguments in Trump's trial for a slew of business crimes involving falsifying business records and for covering up hush money payments to a porn actress are set to start today.
Prosecutors’ final remarks in the case could go on for several hours. "The star witness in this case are the documents, and the documents speak for themselves,” said former New York prosecutor Bernarda Villalona.
Trump’s attorneys will present their closing arguments first on Tuesday, followed by the arguments from prosecutors. Once both sides finish their arguments, Judge Juan Merchan will instruct the jury as to the charges it must consider against Trump; then, the jurors will begin their deliberations. The judge has said he expects this to happen on Wednesday.
"Trump remains the greatest threat to Democracy in our nation’s history,” said Ty Cobb, former Trump White House attorney. If he is convicted, Trump could face as much as four years in prison, as well as be named a felon.

CNN reported that Trump was loudly and consistently booed throughout his speech Saturday at the Libertarian Party’s national convention, particularly when he asked attendees to “nominate me or at least vote for me.” The heckling began the moment Trump took the stage.

The Independent reported that Trump started the month owing his lawyers a seven-figure sum as he burns through thousands of dollars per day to cover his burgeoning legal fees.
Trump's Save America political action committee (PAC), funded by his ignorant MAGA Maggot supporters, has been his primary fundraising and political spending wing since he left the White House. In other words, Trump expects very ignorant taxpayers to pay his legal bills for being an American traitor and for his inability to keep his pants zipped during his illicit affairs.
Last year, Trump spent $55 million on legal bills, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), according to a filing in February. In February alone, Save America spent $230,000 on lawyer fees, as per the filing. Additionally, Save America dished out nearly $3.3 million in May on legal consulting.
Save America entered 2024 with liquid cash of just $5 million after Trump burned through his donors’ funds paying off his astronomical legal bills.

HuffPost reported that Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) told reporters after a portion of his debate speech on the House floor was ruled out of order that “Basically, what they’re trying to do now is cancel people. They’re trying to cancel people who are speaking up in a way that they don’t approve of. That’s the strategy.”
House Republicans invoked a rule Wednesday that punished a Democratic lawmaker who recited the litany of charges against Trump. Rep. Erin Houchin (R-Ind.) made a motion to “take down” McGovern’s words from the record after he listed Trump’s alleged crimes during debate on the floor.

MarketWatch just published an article stating that the U.S. stock market is one of the best predictors of whether the incumbent party will win a presidential election, and as such, President Biden's chances of winning reelection are currently 58.8%, and these odds will rise even more if the stock market gains more between now and Election Day. James Carville, former President Bill Clinton’s strategist during the 1992 election, famously said “It’s the economy, stupid.” He used the line to remind Clinton’s campaign staff that all other issues pale in comparison to the economy as a determinant of whether the incumbent party retains the White House. They all showed up at the Manhattan courthouse, skipping out on their day jobs while the people's House was still in session, as part of a pro-Trump display. Our tax dollars pay the salaries of these Trump ass-sniffers! In fact, so many Republicans were in New York City this morning that it’s likely that Democrats were in the majority in the House chamber.

CNN’s “Situation Room” anchor Wolf Blitzer said Trump is “setting very low expectations” ahead of the June and September debates with his baseless claim that President Biden “can’t put two sentences together.”

On Monday Trump once again tore into Judge Juan Merchan after his former attorney, Michael Cohen, spent hours on the witness stand, with Trump saying, “We have a corrupt judge, and we have a judge who’s highly conflicted, and he’s keeping me from campaigning." Trump is not allowed to comment on witnesses under a gag order, and just yesterday a New York appeals court rejected his appeal of a gag order, rejecting arguments that the measure had violated Trump’s First Amendment rights, and stating, "Justice Merchan properly determined that petitioner's public statements posed a significant threat to the integrity of the testimony of witnesses and potential witnesses in this case as well."
Trump obviously does not have the mental capacity to learn from his past mistakes.
Recent polls show that 20 percent of Republican caucusgoers in Iowa, 34 percent of GOP primary voters in New Hampshire and 25 percent of GOP primary voters in South Carolina said they were so dissatisfied with Trump that they would not vote for him in the general election. Trump has his biggest problems with college-educated and suburban women voters, and some Republican lawmakers worry the high-profile rehashing of Trump’s inability to keep his pants zipped with a porn actress while he was married to Melania Trump will only further hurt him with that key demographic — as it should. At this past weekend's rally in Wildwood, N.J., Trump had higher praise for Hannibal Lecter and Al Capone than anyone daring to hold him accountable.
Trump is not a leader. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he has lied his way through life. He's a pathetic businessman, having filed for bankruptcy at least six times, with a string of failed businesses falling by the wayside as he steamrolls over the people he's hurt along the way. He has no moral compass, having had numerous illicit affairs while married to three wives. He praises dictators like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.
Trump was rated as the worst president in 150 years by over 140 historians. He has been impeached twice, and now stands accused of dozens of felonies. Trump has no platform and no agenda — only a laundry list of insults and baseless complaints about an election he legitimately lost to President Biden. His one and only card to play is that he considers himself to be the victim — everyone is out to get him. Whether it's the 2020 election, the insurrection at the Capital, the current trials, the judge, or the elector down the street — it doesn't matter — Trump wants everyone to know that everyone is out to get him, and that he's the victim. This, of course, is pure bullshit, but his ignorant MAGA Maggots believe him. Trump's pattern is that he styles himself as a victim in the same way that Benito Mussolini did a hundred years ago, or in the same way that Turkey's Erdogan claims to be a victim, or the way Putin claims the whole Russian nation is a victim. This all goes with depicting your opponents as the real fascists. This is worrisome because it was Mussolini who was the first person who claimed to represent freedom and democracy, and we all know what happened when Mussolini and Hitler were not taken seriously! We have this wisdom of history and we need to use it today. Trump is following Mussolini and Hitler's playbook, and Trump must be stopped.

Trump LIES about crowd size AGAIN!
Trump, the malignant narcissist and incessant liar, lied yet again about the size of the crowd attending his Wildwood, N.J. rally on Saturday, where he also carried out crude verbal attacks on his political opponents, Judge Juan Merchan, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump also continued to spew out his worn-out laundry list of baseless grievances in order to perpetuate his Big Lie.
Trump said the crowd had exceeded 100,000. The fact is that Aliya Schneider, a reporter with The Philadelphia Inquirer, posted videos showing attendees leaving the rally while Trump was still speaking. "Trump is still speaking, but the crowd has been thinning. People have been walking out back to the boardwalk," Schneider wrote. USA Today reporter Zac Anderson posted a video showing much of the crowd had gone while Trump was still delivering his remarks. People don't want to hear more of Trump's baseless lies and worn-out grievances.

Trump knew that these wealthy oil donors bought access and fealty with their contributions, so Trump asked these special interests for an eye-popping fee of $1 billion in exchange for explicit favors — in other words, Trump offered a bribe!
"You all are wealthy enough, he said, that you should raise $1 billion to return me to the White House.” In exchange, Trump vowed to roll back current regulations and freeze future ones. He told them that, given the savings, a billion bucks would be a “deal” for them.
